Ray tracing technology

 We have heard about ray tracing technology in computer terms. Predominantly when we are playing any realistic games like minecraft etc. But what is ray tracing? What does it actually do?


Ray tracing is such technology that without it you couldn't even imagine the realistic graphics.Ray tracing is a technology that generates realistic images in 3D footages.

It traces the path of light where light reflects by bouncing off surface and interact with the scene and eventually determining how product graphics appears to the user.


The basic concept behind the ray tracing technology quite simple theoretically but it's a challenging task to acieve practically.

This technology involves in simulation the behaviour of light by tracing each ray of light as they generate from the source and travel upto the user's eyes.

As each ray interacts with the objects in the scene, it may be reflected, refracted, or absorbed by the materials it encounters, and the resulting color and brightness are computed based on the properties of those materials.

It takes a lot of processing power to recreate millions of light rays needed to create a realistic image.

Advances in hardware and software have made it possible for it to be used in real-time applications.

 One of the major advantages of ray tracing over other rendering techniques is its ability to accurately reproduce realistic lighting effects such as shadows, reflections, and refractions.

 This can lead to images that are more realistic and impressive than those created using other rendering methods.
